Take a look at some really expensive Ferrari’s

A new LaFerrari will set you back $1.4 million. But that’s not the most expensive Ferrari ever sold. Not by a longshot.

A new LaFerrari will set you back $1.4 million. But that’s not the most expensive Ferrari ever sold. Not by a longshot.

The most expensive car ever sold – public or private – took place in October 2013. The car in question was a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO and it sold for $52 million. At the time of the sale, California collector Don Williams commented, “Today the GTO is considered the top car to own… If you have a GTO, you have a great collection.”

According to Robert Frank of CNBC, the most expensive car ever sold through public auction is none other than a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, which sold this past summer for just shy of $38 million. Only 39 GTOs were ever made. In the past decade GTO selling prices have appreciated by 250%.

While not referring to a record-setting Ferrari sale price, The Telegraph has a good pictorial of the world’s most expensive Ferrari’s.

Another pictorial worth a look if you’re a Ferrari aficionado is offered up by Elite Traveler magazine. It covers the gamut from cheap to expensive including the car made famous by Tom Selleck in Magnum P.I.

Finishing off with a local story, the Globe and Mail ran a piece earlier this week about a Toronto man’s 1971 Ferrari 365/4 Daytona Berlinetta. Bought for $18,000 in 1971, Daytona’s can sell at auction for more than $1 million today.
