Ex-president and CEO behind ‘one of Canada’s stand-out pension successes’ starts new chapter

C.D. Howe Institute welcomes former pension-fund chief

The C.D. Howe Institute has appointed the most recent former chief of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan as its newest senior fellow.

Prior to joining the institute, Ron Mock served as president and CEO at Ontario Teachers’ from 2014 until December 2019. Before that, he worked with investment dealer Burns Fry (which is now known as BMO Nesbitt Burns) and held the firm’s membership seat on the Chicago Board of Trade.

He brings with him deep industry experience covering both long-term fund investing and pension administration.

“Ron has had an extraordinary career, culminating in his leadership of one of Canada’s stand-out pension successes,” said William Robson, president and CEO of the C.D. Howe Institute.

“We are delighted to welcome him to the C.D. Howe Institute as a Senior Fellow, and look forward to collaborating with him across our work program,” Robson added.
