Financial planners least trusted professionals?

First the good news, people trust financial planners more than they trust Realtors, politicians and journalists; the bad news, planners are still pretty close to the bottom of the list. Where exactly?

First the good news, people trust financial planners more than they trust Realtors, religious ministers, politicians and journalists. The bad news, planners are still pretty close to the bottom of the list.

Of the 50 occupations it ranks, the "Most Trusted Professions 2013" poll by Reader’s Digest Canada places financial planners in 11th spot for the most distrusted.

Financial advisors can take some pride in not making the top-ten least trustworthy professions, which runs from religious ministers to psychics (the least trusted) and features a range of diverse occupations in-between.

Firefighters held first place as most trusted.

“Anyone running into a burning building when everybody else is running out deserves your full trust,” said one poll participant. Pharmacists, airline pilots, nurses and doctors rounded out the top five.
