Changes announced at the CFIQ

The IFIC’s voice in Quebec has announced new appointments to its board of governors

The board of governors of the Conseil des fonds d’investissement du Québec (CFIQ), the IFIC’s voice in Quebec, has announced the election of Stéphane Blanchette as chair of the board.

“I am honored that my peers have chosen me to assume this role in one of the most dynamic periods in the history of the industry,” said Blanchette. “I intend to build on the legacy of my predecessors, providing thoughtful, fact-based commentary to Quebec regulators and policy makers on all issues impacting the industry and its investors. Continuing to build strong relationships with our partners is essential to ensuring a strong investment sector where investors can realize their financial goals.”

Elected to the position of second vice-chair is Eric Landry, vice president of investment solutions at Desjardins Investment Inc. Several new members were also introduced into the board: Tommy Baltzis (President, WhiteHaven Securities), François Bruneau (Administrative Vice-President – Investments, Groupe Cloutier) and Gino Savard (President and Partner, Mica Financial Services).

Blanchette shall be taking the reins from Claude Paquin, who has served as chair of the board since May 2013. The board of governors has expressed their gratitude to Paquin for his strong leadership over the past three years.

All new appointments are set to take effect on September 1.
