BMO Financial Group and Odlum Brown are among the firms recognised for their corporate culture in an annual Canadian ranking.

The firms are included in the Most Admired Corporate Cultures in Canada listings from Waterstone Human Capital.

BMO’s CEO Darren White has shared his view on what makes the firm he leads among the best-in-class.

"It's important for companies to have a strong sense of who they are, what they stand for and how everyone works together," he says. “We foster a workplace where diverse perspectives are sought out, where opportunities to grow and develop are available to all and where we make it a priority to give back. For all of these reasons our culture is strong and enables our performance and growth."

The firm’s culture is underpinned by four core values: diversity, empathy, integrity, and responsibility.

As part of its commitment to these values, BMO has actively promoted career and leadership development for women, becoming one of only nine firms to win the Catalyst Award for employers that have bold gender equality initiatives.

Odlum Brown is double winner
Vancouver-headquartered investment firm Odlum Brown gets two awards in this year’s rankings.

The firm is named among Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures of 2017 for mid-market firms; and its president and CEO Debra Hewson is an individual winner for growth.
