There was a rise in the optimism of America’s small businesses in August according to new data. The National Federation of Independent Businesses said Tuesday that optimism rose by half a percentage point to 95.9. Optimism in sales growth was up but most businesses were not expecting to increase hiring. The surveys were completed before the global slump in equity markets.
