Asian markets have had a calmer day of trading Thursday as China’s markets are closed for a two-day break while most of the other major indexes have closed broadly flat.

Toronto and Wall Street are set for higher starts to trading following gains in the previous session. Data is also in focus in the US as jobless claims and a trade report are among the releases.

European markets are higher ahead of the latest policy statement from the European Central Bank and following PMI data which showed the highest growth in four years for the Eurozone.
