​TSX higher again as gold and banks thrive

Vicwest saw a 19 per cent rise having agreed to become part of Ag Growth International and the mining sector saw a number of gains. Home improvement retailer Rona announced a shares buy-back program and new store openings and its shares gained. National Bank of Canada was up 0.9 per cent and the financial sector achieved a 7-week high on the S&P/TSX Financials index. The TSX S&P index closed up 50.47 (0.34 per cent). The NYSE closed higher along with gold but oil was lower.
