The Canadian business of global investment services firm SEI has been given a boost with two key appointments in Toronto.

SEI Canada has given John Csaszar an additional role as Canadian Equity Portfolio Manager alongside his existing duties as Analyst in its Investment Management Unit; and Dexton Blackstock joins as Managing Director, Head of Canadian Business Development for SEI's Institutional Group.

Csaszar’s dual role includes managing the firm’s Canadian equity funds along with his existing role analyzing current and prospective Canadian equity and fixed-income subadvisors for SEI's funds. He has more than 12 years of industry experience having been with CIBC Asset Management prior to his SEI career.

"As a manager-of-managers program, understanding the underlying investment managers in our portfolios is critical. John's background in manager research puts him in a perfect position to take over management of the portfolios," said Collins. "I am confident that he is well-positioned for success in his new role and pleased to be able to promote from within company ranks."

Former BMO GAM executive
Meanwhile, Blackstock joins the firm from BMO Global Asset Management where he was most recently Director of Institutional Sales and Service.

At SEI Canada he will lead business development and leverage his 20+ years in the investment industry to sell the firm’s outsourced chief investment office (OCIO) solution to institutional investors.

"Canadian institutional investors continue to show increased interest in the OCIO model for investment management, and we are thrilled to add Dexton's two decades of experience in understanding their needs," said Cagnina. "He is an excellent addition to our team and we anticipate that he will have an immediate impact on business development in this region."

Leader for wealth management platform
While the Canadian unit of the 50-year-old SEI business has fresh talent, so too does the parent firm’s team in Pennsylvania.

SEI has appointed Mark White as the Managing Director and Senior Business Development Executive of the SEI Wealth PlatformSM (SWP), an outsourcing solution for wealth managers encompassing wealth processing services and wealth management programs.

White has more than 30 years of experience and most recently served as a Senior Sales Executive at FIS in their Wealth and Retirement Solutions division.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mark to the team, as he brings deep wealth management industry experience that will further support the SEI Wealth Platform’s momentum,” said Greg Rodgers, Vice President and Managing Director of SEI Private Banking Sales. “Mark’s history of strategically delivering technology solutions and developing extensive trusted client relationships will significantly complement our team, and we look forward to his contributions to SEI’s future success.”
