Oil resumes its decline punishing TSX energy stocks

After a few weeks’ of more stable oil prices volatility has returned this week. Thursday’s session has seen the price of Brent crude drop below $50 once again and WTI falling below $45.

After a few weeks’ of more stable oil prices volatility has returned this week. Thursday’s session has seen the price of Brent crude drop below $50 once again and WTI falling below $45. Energy stocks have been battered by the declining price of a barrel and dragged the Toronto Stock Exchange lower. Suncorp and Canadian Natural Resources were among the biggest losers of day.

The S&P/ TSX Composite Index closed down 97.08 (0.67 per cent)
The NYSE closed lower (Dow down 120.7 / 0.69 per cent)
Oil is trending mixed (Brent up at $49.64, WTI down at $44.78 at 4.10pm)
Gold is trending lower
The loonie is valued at U$0.7624 (at 4.10pm)
