Food prices have contributed to higher inflation with Canada’s annual rate up 1.3 per cent, narrowly missing expectations. StatsCan reported that core inflation hit the expected 2.4 per cent and underlying inflation is between 1.5 and 1.7 per cent. Lower gasoline prices contributed less to moderating the rise in the CPI.
