Food inflation could be as high as 3 per cent this year

The University of Guelph’s Food Institute has published its revised report on food inflation which reveals that Canadian households will be spending between 0.7 and 3 per cent more for their food this year.

The University of Guelph’s Food Institute has published its revised report on food inflation which reveals that Canadian households will be spending between 0.7 and 3 per cent more for their food this year. The increase is driven by vegetables which could be 7.5 per cent more expensive and fruit which could see a 5 per cent hike. The initial version of the report was published in December, before the value of the Canadian dollar dropped below 80 cents US.
