Wednesday’s trading session in Asia has shown the volatile nature of the Chinese stock market with a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows during the day sending shockwaves across the region. Reuters reports that only the intervention of state-backed equity buyers stabilized the market in late trading to secure a 1 per cent gain for China’s main index.

European markets are cautious so far as investors await agreement on the deal for Greece and the minutes of the Fed’s July monetary policy meeting which are due at 2pm ET, after European trade ends. In London, a Bank of England policymaker has said that interest rates in the UK will rise “soon”.
