Canada’s unemployment rate climbs to 6.8 per cent

Canada is starting to see the effects of lower oil prices on the jobs market and data from Statistics Canada shows that unemployment nationwide increased to 6.8 per cent.

Canada is starting to see the effects of lower oil prices on the jobs market and data from Statistics Canada shows that unemployment nationwide increased to 6.8 per cent, up 0.2 per cent from January. Alberta shed 14,000 jobs and Quebec lost 16,800 part time positions. Manufacturing joined the energy sector in shedding the most roles.
