The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development says that Canada ranks near the bottom of the league for foreign aid spending, paying 0.24 per cent of GDP last year. That’s a reduction from the 0.27 per cent in 2013 and well below the 0.7 per cent that the United Nations wants countries to contribute. The average for OECD countries last year was 0.29 per cent with 13 countries increasing their spending while Canada and 14 others spend less.
