All eyes on the Fed

The Federal Reserve’s monetary committee’s two-day meeting ends Wednesday and world markets are awaiting the announcement and press conference that follow. Analysts are looking for more robust indications of when the Fed is going to begin increasing interest rates and the size and timescale of those rises. Around the world trading has been buoyed by regional earnings and the Dow closing up more than 1 per cent in the previous session. Asia’s markets closed Wednesday’s trading mostly higher with Shanghai managing a positive result after some sharp losses recently. European markets are trading higher so far as the first earnings of the day impressed.


US stock futures are trending higher. Oil is trending lower (Brent $53.04, WTI $47.76 at 6.20am ET). Gold is trending lower.
