The Canadian ETF Association (CETFA) is the representative of Canada's ETF industry.
CETFA is composed of 18 ETF issuers with more than 96% of ETF assets under management in Canada. As part of its mandate, the CETFA offers training programs on ETFs, produces reports, and supports the ETF industry in Canada.
CETFA was established in 2012 by three ETF industry leaders who saw the need for a national association. The CETFA’s first executive director was Pat Dunwoody, who continues to serve in that role today.
The CETFA is the first ETF association in the world. Only fitting as ETFs started in Canada. The first ETF in its early form made its debut on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1990.
