Life member of Million Dollar Roundtable judges WP Awards

An industry maverick – now retired – brings 55 years of expertise to judging the WP Awards.

For retired advisor Robbie Wildman, it was the perfect time to be a judge of the WP Awards.

“I thought why not,” said Robbie Wildman. “I’ve done all sorts of things in my career and this could be fun.”

Wildman has gone through his career of over half a century with the importance of giving back to the industry firmly entrenched in his mind.

“I’ve lived my insurance life of 55 years giving back,” said Wildman. “As I was progressing, the insurance business needed volunteers as much as the Anglican or Catholic Church or as much as anyone. So I made a point of volunteering back to my own industry and this is a small way to do it.”

Wildman joins a judging panel including Chris Polson, VP for global advisory firm Duff & Phelps Ltd.; Sean Cleary, BMO Professor of Finance at Queens University; Greg Pollock, president of Advocis; and Ellen Bessner, a partner with Babin Bessner Spry LLP.

“I haven’t been your ordinary life insurance advisor or ordinary life insurance agency manager,” he said.
That’s a bit of an understatement.

Wildman is a Life Member of the Million Dollar Roundtable and earned 32 National Quality Service Awards attesting to the value he has placed on his relationships with his clients.

He is a past President of the Life Underwriters Association of Canada and past Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Life Underwriters.

“To be a good salesman – and I was a good salesman – you have to really understand people, essential that you understand the inner man, and I do with my clients and I do with my agents,” he said. “So I guess I’m going to bring some of that as a judge and that’s a valuable thing to have.”
