Growing interest in pot investment

Growing interest in pot investment In mid-January some of the biggest players in the legal cannabis sector will descend on New York to discuss pot’s future potential and how investors can take advantage of the growth trends in this highly controversial product.

"The legal cannabis industry is not just a social movement but also a business and financial revolution,” said Scott Greiper, President of Viridian Capital Advisors. “Approximately $2.7 billion of cannabis was sold legally in 2014, and there are currently more than 250 public cannabis companies trading on various markets worldwide.”

The Viridian Cannabis Investor Series comes on the heels of a successful conference held this past June which welcomed nearly 400 investors to the first-ever cannabis investor conference held in New York City. Investors included private equity funds, family offices, sector focused funds and high net worth individuals.

Investing in the Emerging Cannabis Industry While Managing Risk takes place January 13, 2016 in New York City. The sponsors of the event are Viridian Capital Advisors, a financial and strategic advisory firm dedicated to the cannabis marketplace, and Equities.com, a leading financial news source focused on growth companies such as those operating in legal cannabis.

Other stops for the investor series include Boca Raton, Denver, San Francisco, Philadelphia and a yet to be announced date in February in Toronto.

Questions asked and answered at January’s event include which segments of the cannabis industry advisors should invest in and which to avoid; the reaction of Wall Street to the cannabis sector; which sectors are showing the fastest growth and attracting the most capital; and the main challenges facing the industry.

"With this opportunity, however, comes risks that are particular to the nature of the cannabis industry. These conferences will provide qualified investors and industry leaders with a platform to identify investment opportunities in the sector while properly managing business and personal risk."
