Sandy McIntyre has stepped back into the role of Chief Investment Officer for Sentry Investments this month, a position that he held from 2008 to 2012.

“Over the past several years, we've placed a tremendous focus on building out our investment team,” said Sean Driscoll, CEO, Sentry Investments. “Backed by our disciplined investment process, the goal of our global line-up will be consistent with the goal of our broader fund line-up: to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns.”

McIntyre is also taking on lead management responsibility for Sentry's global fund line-up, which includes Sentry Global Growth and Income Fund, Sentry Global Balanced Income Fund, the recently launched Sentry Global Mid Cap Income Fund, and the global equity sleeve of the four Sentry Personal Pension Portfolios.

“Sentry has developed significant investment expertise and delivered excellent long-term results within its core investment funds, particularly Sentry Canadian Income Fund, Sentry U.S. Growth and Income Fund and their balanced fund counterparts (Sentry Conservative Balanced Income Fund and Sentry U.S. Balanced Income Fund),” said Driscoll. “Those funds account for over $10 billion of the company's mutual fund assets under management. We are confident that we can deliver similar value for securityholders within our global fund line-up with Sandy as the lead.”

Phil Yuzpe, president and COO of Sentry Investments, also had high praise for McIntyre.

“Success starts and finishes with a winning culture,” said Yuzpe. “The values that form the foundation of our culture include teamwork, collaboration and respect - respect for our clients, respect for investors and respect for each other. I can't think of anyone at Sentry who better embodies those values than Sandy McIntyre.”

McIntyre joined Sentry in 2000 and has 40 years' experience in the financial services industry. He is the former lead manager of Sentry Canadian Income Fund and Sentry Diversified Income Fund, and was twice honoured as a Brendan Wood International Canadian TopGun Investment Mind.

The architect and original practitioner of the Sentry house style, which is applied consistently across Sentry's entire fund line-up, McIntyre hired and mentored many of Sentry's portfolio managers, many of whom are now award-winning senior leaders within the firm, and recognized names in the financial industry.

McIntyre is expected to continue to mentor the next generation of Sentry's investment management team.

“I'm looking forward to working more directly with our portfolio management team again,” said McIntyre. “Having been in the financial services industry for 40 years, I've found few greater rewards than working with and mentoring investment talent to serve the interests of investors. I'm also extremely excited to be in charge of our global line-up, alongside an experienced investment team that includes James Dutkiewicz, Michael Missaghie and Gajan Kulasingam.”
