​TransCanada’s Energy East backed by Quebec’s energy board

​TransCanada’s Energy East backed by Quebec’s energy board The controversial Energy East project has been called “desirable” by the Quebec energy board. However it was keen to stress that costs should be borne by the oil industry as the main beneficiaries and costs should not be passed on to Quebec residents. The Régie de l’énergie predicts natural gas requirements for the province to grow by 2 per cent per year for the next 15 years and believes that TransCanada’s plan to use slack in the pipelines for oil will keep costs of natural gas down.
