Canada’s brokerage industry regulator has fined Scotia Capital $500,000 over a breach of rules concerning eligibility of investors to participate in certain offerings

Canada’s brokerage industry regulator has fined Scotia Capital $500,000 over a breach of rules concerning eligibility of investors to participate in certain offerings. The Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada said that the penalty related to 1,700 clients of DWM Securities which was acquired by Scotia in 2011 and that the majority of incidents were before the acquisition.
