Post-holiday rebound expected for TSX, Wall Street

Post-holiday rebound expected for TSX, Wall Street North America’s stock markets are expected to open higher Tuesday following the Labour Day break.

Asian markets continued to be volatile with China’s main index closing higher just before closing on news of the approval of a U$11 billion railway building program. Meanwhile Tokyo was lower as GDP figures showed second quarter contraction of 1.2 per cent, although this was not as bad as analysts had expected.

In Europe there is a more optimistic tone so far with major indexes up almost 2 per cent. The markets shrugged off Asia’s woes as European corporate and economic indicators boosted sentiment.
