Canadian resource firms are to be penalized if they do not help to resolve local disputes in foreign countries in which they operate.

Canadian resource firms are to be penalized if they do not help to resolve local disputes in foreign countries in which they operate. The federal government will withdraw its economic diplomacy and trade services from firms that do not co-operate. International Trade Minister Ed Fast says the government’s corporate social responsibility ombudsman will have extended powers to tackle bad behaviour overseas.
