Calgary housing market continues to be pounded by oil decline

House prices in Calgary declined for the fifth month in a row in April according to the latest figures from the Calgary Real Estate Board.

House prices in Calgary declined for the fifth month in a row in April according to the latest figures from the Calgary Real Estate Board. New listings were down 18 per cent from a year ago to 3,064 while prices fell 0.7 per cent from a month earlier (although were still 1.4 per cent higher than April last year.) Sales though were down 22 per cent from the same time last year and were 15 per cent below the long-term average for April. Apartments saw a larger decline, dropping 33 per cent from the previous year.
