The unemployment numbers are not only an indication of where Canada stands in terms of recession but also hint at next week's rate decision by the Bank of Canada.

    "More people searched for work" reaklly should be said that more people who were not in the job market actually entered the job market. What this means is that the unemployment rate increased because the pool was added by people who were not considered part of the work force in the first place. Still, 7% is not a happy number for those looking for work. US figures went down to 5.1%.
